The City of Santa Paula is currently updating the Housing Element of the General Plan. Because the Housing Element of the General Plan plays such a key role in planning for the housing needs
of all economic segments of the community, it is required by state law to be updated. The City of Santa Paula has prepared a draft of the 2008-2014 General Plan Housing Element (June 2008),
which has been reviewed by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). In response to HCD’s comments staff has prepared proposed changes for council consideration,

A copy of the draft Housing Element is also available for review at the City of Santa Paula Planning Counter located at 200 S. 10th Street; and at the Blanchard Community Library at 119 N.
8th Street in Santa Paula. A paper copy or a CD of the June 2008 and November 2009 Housing Element documents may also be purchased at the Planning Counter for $25.
The City Council will hold a public hearing on November 16, 2009 to review the 2008-2014 Housing Element (November 2009).
