Skate Park Closed For Rules Violations
The Skate Park was closed today through Monday, January 23,
2006 for rules violations. The Police Department has experienced
significant resistence by skaters in enforcement of the park rules,
especially the requirement to wear helmets. Skaters have been
uncooperative with officers issuing citations giving false names and
destroying citations in front of the officers once the citation is
issued. The City Attorney is reviewing current penalities for
violations of the skate park rules to consider more appropriate
penalities for non-compliance.
