The Public Works Department builds, manages and operates the City's public facilities, infrastructure and utility enterprises through the activities of seven divisions as follows: Street Maintenance is responsible for all streets, alleys, parking lots and storm drains; Buildings and Grounds cares for all city buildings, parks, public restrooms and playgrounds; Equipment Maintenance maintains city vehicles and equipment and operates the City Yard; Refuse Collection provides refuse collection and recycling services to most residences and some businesses; Water Maintenance and Water Operations care for and operate the domestic water system serving the city; and Administration and Engineering is responsible for the design/construction of public project/subdivisions, management of service contracts, and for overall management of the Department.
